I don't believe in the classic portrait. I believe it has its place, its presence and power, but I believe that it rarely applies to myself, or to the individuals I wish to present. I wish to show their interior workings, and give my viewer a guide by which he may examine the subject of their gaze instead of leaving the viewer to guess. I maim, re-name, scratch, paint and pierce my images to lead the viewer not only into the world which I wish to reflect, but also into that of the subject and subsequently, into themselves.
