For several decades, celebrated photo-collage artist John O'Reilly quietly assembled cut-and-paste images in his home studio, before achieving belated "overnight success" when his work was featured to widespread acclaim in the 1995 Whitney Biennial. O'Reilly's work has appeared in numerous group and single-artist exhibitions throughout the United States, and in publications including see, Out and Aperture. In 1988, O'Reilly received an award from the National Endowment for the Arts. Earlier this year, a retrospective of his work was on view at Hosfelt Gallery, San Francisco. O'Reilly currently lives in Worcester, Massachusetts with Jim Tellin, his partner of forty years.
