QAR Site of the Month - August 2011

PEDRO CASTRO - Queer Photography

Annie Sprinkle and Beth Stephens Silver Wedding on the Rocks (Barcelona, 2011)

Most of Pedro Castro's photographs are a combination of sexuality and raw colors mixed with a total lack of respect for photography rules, meaning that the photos he takes correspond to an intimate, chaotic, and from his perspective, a more natural look at individuals. All his photos are made with people who have an active part in his life; that is to say, his friends. This is Queer contemporary photography on non-heteronormative lifestyles. He declares boldly: "Normality is an excuse for the unimaginative." Luis Pedro de Castro aka Strangelfreak. Visit Pedro Castro's blog: Strangelfreak in LalaLand.

links policy

QAR links to other websites consistent with our mission to expand knowledge of contemporary and historical queer art and culture. These sites represent the range and diversity of queer artistic expression on the Internet, but their inclusion on our list does not constitute an endorsement by QAR, nor is the list intended to be comprehensive. We hope it will serve as a departure point to websites that are contributing to the evolution of queer art and culture, and we welcome your suggestions for other possible links.

QAR selects a "Site of the Month," and creates a special link each month to a website that merits particular attention. If you'd like to nominate a site of the month please email the links editor.
