hey... i'm an artist in my final year at the Australian National University School Of Art. I was thinking how great this exhibition is and how much i would love to set up one simial in Australia. I think we have some great queer artist here and alot of us don't get noticed half the time, mostly because of our ages. If any one has any hints/suggestions that would help me in starting an exhibit like GENERATION Q in australia, it woul be greatly appreciated!!
  • A new comer to queer-art site... - Wayne Smith ( Deonte' ) 12:56:02 2/24/100 (1)
I'm kinda new to this site. I am a fashion designer, an abstract artist, a nude photographer, a mystic screenplay writer, and a music producer for a friend who wants to sing. I'm having trouble getting tuition for a college in LA I want to go to called FIDM. It's 16, 000 +. I'm proud to be homosexual really, but all people can say is Why are you gay? I don't give a reason, it's just a feeling I have being around men.

  • thank you dakini and pebs - Simon Thibault 10:22:19 9/21/99 (0)
First of all, I would like to thank QAR for giving me the opportunity to say something, for giving me the opportunity to have my voice heard. But a special thanks to dakini and pebs who defended my fellow GenQ artists and our work. My dear boyblue (whose very name suggests ganymede-like worship from an individual I assume is not a youth) does not seem to understand that as part of a generation who has no major centre of culture as my parents did (the cold war, the vietnam war, the me … (more)

The time is now, and we are all here. We can but document the personal, as we can only truely know of ourselves. Strident jestures of a youth--what beauty! I too was young, and had such feeling, yet never so eloquently provided for the needs of others. For this gift I thank this group of artist; gay becomes inconsequensial. It is art, not gay art! • dakini and Pebs contemplate inviting blueboy to a handbag duel at sundown - d. jones 13:36:58 8/15/99 (0)
Shame that boyblue seems to have all too much in common with "those bigots and bores who still fail to understand just how crucial it is to listen to and empathize with gay and lesbian youth" mentioned by Steven Jenkins in his critical essay about this exhibition. Oh well, his loss. Back in the land of those able to rise above being bored, boring and boreish... me and my mate have been sat here oohing and aahing over the talent shown here. Unfortunately, I'm not particularly articulate when it … (more)

Not associating much with this crowd, I was curious to see what the kids are up to nowadays. Frankly, it seems to be not much. The works you show seem to me to be quick, facile, all concept and no substance. I admit to longing for meticulous craftsmanship in art. It's totally missing here. I don't think there as much content either, as the artists pretend to. If I were young, as a gay person I don't think I would see much of myself expressed in these works. They seem to be straining for import … (Links) (more)
