Post Message I Love Harvey - Laura Keenan 14:19:31 8/10/101 (0) I've just returned from a visit to San Francisco and am thoroughly enjoying Randy Shilt's bio on Harvey, The Mayor of Castro Street. I visited City Hall, and expected some sort of memorial honoring the slain Supervisor Milk and Mayor Moscone. I was disappointed to find neither. Unfortunately, at eh time I wasn't aware of the Harvey portrait that now graces his former residence and missed seeing that. Since I'm a NYC resident, I must check out the Harvey Milk Institute and see what other info (more) Thank You!! - Kevin Revell 19:28:18 4/23/101 (0) Thank you for posting this exhibit on the web. I have been interested in the history of Harvey Milk ever since I found out that I had an uncle who used to be Harvey's lover: Jack Galen McKinley. And while looking through the photos I found the picture of him (circa 1969). I never got to know Uncle Jack because he commited suicide in 1980 (i was only 6 at the time). But during my Christmas visit home on the year I came out to my family my mother showed me a letter Jack had written to her (and (more) Creating a Memory - Alfred Robinson 11:31:07 10/17/100 (0) -I lived in NYC during Harvey's Hey Day and created a life role for myself as Le Grande Vicar along with M. Marie, The Empress of the L.T.C. over a court of gays, bewildereds and troglodytes. Blind to other courts and scenes I now begin to gather pieces of the palace mosaic of the West, warm, radiant. Traveling show information - Rupert Jenkins 11:15:57 4/03/100 (0) I am the director of the SF Arts Commission Gallery. We first exhibited the Harvey Milk Second Sight show and worked extensively with Bob Kelley to assemble and present the images during the fall og 1998. It disturbs me that the Gallery is not credited anywhere on the site, that in fact no mention of the exhibition exists, and that no mention exists that the exhibition is available for travel. I would appreciate that, at the very least, some contact information being posted about where people (more) The exhibition/activism today - Michael G. Liberatore 11:22:46 10/05/99 (0) Your exhibition moved me. As a former activist, I hope that many of the gay men I see today, who are more interested in the next bump of Special K than their civil rights, will take a look at the life of a truly inspirational man; a man who knew how to blend a passion for life and fun with an understanding of the great work that needed to be done. Maybe by seeing this exhibit, they'll realize there is nothing more important than balance. I'm 40 years old, and spent my twenties and thirties (more) Progress??? - Edward G. Robinson 19:56:38 7/30/99 (1) How much progress do you think we made in twenty years? I still hear of gay bashing and people being picked on.
